About JCI

JCI is a World Wide Federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs having a membership of 2 lakh active members and millions of JCI alumni participating in project, meetings, learning programs and events. JCI thrives in more than 6 lakhs communities located in about 115 countries throughout the world.

JCI members are 18 to 40 year old professionals and entrepreneurs who have joined a local JCI Chapter. We meet, learn and grow. We create positive change. We train to become better leaders. We organize Projects in the areas of Management, Business, Individual, Community and International Development. Building local, national and international networks, we draw on the experience of JCI alumni who have succeeded in various facets of life and who provide assistance when required. Representing countless occupations and skills, we are creative, bold leaders who are developing new skills, laying new foundations and establishing new friendships and networks.

We believe in the advancement of the global community and the creation of positive change by improving ourselves and the world around us. We meet at local, national and international events to exchange ideas and share best practices. We also learn from dynamic speakers and trainers at interesting and interactive seminars and presentations. We are growing personally and professionally because we are learning by doing, actively organizing projects and activities that benefit our communities and ourselves. JCI provides lots of opportunities to its members such as Individual Opportunities, Management Opportunities, Community Opportunities, International Opportunities, Business opportunities.

JCI Constitution : Adopted in 1947
Official Publication : 'JCI World' started in 1964 Published in 6 languages, English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Name changed to "Leader" in 1984.
Secretariate : At Coral Gables, Florida, USA established in 1954
Membership : Over 6 lakhs in 1000 communities in 116 countries.

Founded by : In the year 1949 by a Phillippino Jaycee Segunde Mapa
First Chapter : At Calcutta in 1949
First National Convention : Held on 30 - 32 July 1955 at Calcutta
World President from India : Jc. Kumar P.Gera of Poona in 1979
First National President : Jc. V.R. Bhakthavalsalam of Madras JC
Name changed to : "Indian Jaycees" at the Madurai National Convention in 1972
Again changed to : "Indian Junior Chamber" at the Bombay National Convention in 1988
